strange little things

strewn along the sands at Long Strand at the low tide mark, the largest of them about two inches long, but mostly much smaller. 
Closest ID I can find is Valella valella, a kind of polyp , but if anyone knows better I would love to hear about it. 

A nice walk in bright sunshine. Then ploughed on this evening and finished the quilt top. And it's looking good.
