Church gates
After all the activity of recent weeks it's been good to settle back into a more relaxed regime. This morning I dropped Alex off at Stibbington Lakes, where he was working with the Wildlife Trust and before returning home I had a short walk round Stibbington churchyard where I came across these rather fine gates.
As the weather was mild and calm I headed to Old Sulehay and had a walk round the forest. The dry weather meant that the paths were easy to walk - even Mucky Ride was scarcely damp - but there were virtually no fungi and not a lot of autumn colour. As I was walking along the main ride back to the car I decided to experiment with a reversal of the Pep Ventosa technique, and stood on one spot and took photographs at roughly 30 degree intervals all around me. The finished image retains an echo of the main ride and emphasizes the density of the coppice layer in the woodland, with the sparser standards emerging above in a ghostly fashion (see extra).
In the late afternoon we finally got around to taking Chris and Lizzy's small double bed upstairs for Ben to use, and removed his ancient and sagging mattress and the wooden bed base, which will be stored in the garage. There's still a lot of sorting out to do - it's amazing how much temporary chaos can be caused by two people moving out!
