The Birds!

It's a very long time ago that I watched Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds", the 1963 horror movie. And yet, whenever I see rooks or crows outlined against the sky, as here, settling on branches with the characteristic fidgetting of their wings, a small memory always flickers in my mind. I think it is triggered by the gentle "tocking" sound as they chat amongst themselves. This communal chatting is wonderful to hear and should not evoke a sense of the sinister. It just goes to show how youthful conditioning can remain with us all through life.
