Broughty Ferry

Our country dance group had an away day today, and we went by coach up to Dundee. The plan was to have two hours in Dundee then the coach would take us to Broughty Ferry, where we would have some time then have a high tea in a local hotel.

Four of us opted to walk to Broughty Ferry from Dundee, and had a super day, the weather was superb, sun and blue skies, and the walk along the estuary of the River Tay towards Broughty Ferry and the sea was wonderful, with great views all the time. We walked to the Broughty Castle at the harbour. The castle is now a museum of fishing life, and very interesting. While there, we were thrilled to witness a wedding taking place on the ramparts, and watched the ceremony and then greeted the bride and groom.

We then continued along past the beautiful sands and sand dunes to the Barnhill Rock Gardens, then made our way back through the nature trail and esplanade to the Fort Hotel where we had a lovely meal. My picture is of Broughty Ferry taken from the harbour.

When we reached home, the HG and I headed for our granddaughter's fourteenth birthday family party. It was fun, but the big event is tomorrow night when she is having a sleepover with eight of her friends. Sounds like fun, but we are not invited!
