Border Tails

Autumn leaves.

Thank you for the hearts on last night’s wee abstract duck. I didn’t manage to get any decent shots today, just a shot of these leaves on the bushes outside of work. Just an iPhone shot and not a very good one at that! I can only apologise for my lack of comments tonight as I go from the two till ten backshift, that I’ve been on since Tuesday, to a nine till five tomorrow. The alarm is set for seven, that will be a shock to the system.

Today, I managed to burn my fingers. I was drawing water through filters and to keep the tweezer things sterile they are in a beaker containoing ethanol. When I lift them out to use them, I pass them through the flame of a gas burner. I realised after I did this that I wasn’t quite ready for that stage so popped them back into the alcohol. Bad move, they were still on fire and the liquid was immediately set alight. I didn’t notice this at first but when I did I shouted on my mentor, who came over and I was able to put the fire out with a wet towel. She said to allow the glass to cool down and she would get me another one, but I could still use the tweezers. I picked them up without thinking and burnt my finger and thumb. Luckily, not badly at all. I wonder if I’ve made a wise decision in choosing my current career.
