Lucca

We decided to visit Lucca today, as several friends had recommended it to us. It's a beautiful walled town, with a real medieval feel to it. What we hadn't realised that the Lucca Comics and Games convention was taking place, which is the largest of its kind in Europe. So the streets were jam-packed with people dressed up in the costumes of their favourite comic book/cartoon characters - not your average experience of the town!
However, it was all very good-humoured and entertaining in its own way, if a bit overwhelming. These gardens with their fountains looked like a peaceful oasis away from the crowds - if only we could have found a way to get down there!
