Burning

Today it was hot. Really hot. The discomfort was compounded by a fire drill at the school, which in the dry, sun-baked afternoon could have been all too real. For the youngest pupils this was the first instance of an évacuation incendie, and the class immediately descended into total panic, with cries of "WHAT IS THAT SOUND!?" from panicked little faces. Matters were only made worse by my garbled attempt to explain the situation - it seems that the only word that got through was "fire," which meant that I had to hold at least half a dozen terrified girls' hands as we left the building. (The boys, unphased, used the unexpected opportunity to start a fight.)

The picture I've included today is here for its sheer Frenchness. It's an advert for a photography studio across the road from my bus stop. Just to be clear - his name is Jean-Luc Renault, he's an "artisan photographer" and he has a moody monochrome picture. It's like there being an American cheeseburger-eating champion called Billy-Bob Hummer. Seriously France, get some originality.
