breaking through
The Moniaive-Dumfries railway opened in 1905 and carried passengers for only 38 years. Its seven rural stations closed on 3rd May 1943, although freight services ran for a further 6 years after that. A few parts of the line are now used as a footpath - the short distance between Stepford and Newtonairds is popular with local dog owners. Recent storms had brought down a small tree across the path and this morning D and I went with our Silky Pocket Boys (!) to clear it.
It has been a beautiful day, the sun shining on the autumn leaves against a blue sky (see extra).
To cap it all, it's D's turn to cook tonight and then the joy of choir practice :-)
