Sunbeams

Our old friend

Growing in the paddock below the house this veteran English Oak has no name but is loved by us and the livestock - and insects and birds ....   It must be three or four hundred years old at least and has been the witness to much country life over the centuries.  The tree has survived many gales standing in the path of the sou'westerlies that roar across from the coast .

T in his childhood made a tree house up in its lower branches, the floor is still there.  The cows and calves shelter from the hot sun or wet weather under its spread. Sad will be the day when it succumbs to nature.

T, K and I  and H and A friends of T's from Norfolk came to lunch.  Roast lamb and all the trimmings followed by blackberry and apple crumble and lemon mouse, and cheese and biscuits.  They then went for a walk before H and A started their long drive home.
