After work today, I met Luke in Dumfries - he had been trailing around the town looking for work. We briefly visited the Stove where "Stitching Dumfries" was to take place (without me, this month). My friend Alyne, who is an ethnologist and local historian, had set up a listening station, with a recording from 1984 of Alf Truckell, a Dumfries 'legend'. He had been curator of Dumfries Museum fro 35 years. You can read a bit about him from his Obituary in the Herald from 2007.
