Tidal energy brings employment to Orkney
This is the Pelamis tidal machine being towed out to it's site at Billia Croo, outside Stromness. There are two of these already in operation, purchased by Scottish Power and Eon and they can create power from the wave's motion.
There is now a growing industry in Stromness on wave and tidal power and we have the only accredited test bed for large machines in the world.
George Bernard Shaw predicted in the early 1900's we could make energy from the sea and now it's coming to pass, a century later! Who said progress was slow?
