A wasted journey

In 1305 William Wallace made a trip to London. This was a trip regarding which he had no choice and ended in his death. This statue of William Wallace stands in front of His Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen. If Wallace had succeeded in his wars against England would history have been much different. Possibly not as Robert the Bruce succeeded in establishing Sottish Independence in 1314.

Today I had a rather wasted trip, though hardly in the same league. I happened to be near the Apple store. My present iPhone needs a new battery, which a friend told me would cost £55. So I thought I might as well upgrade. The model I wanted was in stock so I thought I was ready to go. Unfortunately I did not have a proof of identity. A driving license would have sufficed, however it was in my spare wallet with the foreign money I was using in Europe. Although I had remembered to transfer my credit cards back to my usual wallet I had forgotten about my driving license. So a wasted trip.
