JH Greathead

This statue,  alongside one of the Duke of Wellington and outside the Royal Exchange in the City, honours James H Greathead. He was an engineer whose designs enabled the tunnelling to be so effective when the underground was built in the late 19th Century. This is not an old statue (1994) and was built to stand over a ventilation shaft for Bank Station.
