Not again

Practicing portrait shots with very little success, especially with a bit of a reluctant model. Finding it very hard to take THE photo of Ellie and still not quite getting there. Have been told that photographing black dogs is difficulti and I am beginning to think this is right. So any tips on this most welcome.
Also the fact that she was more interested in the cat didn't help :)
