Centuries apart
So, of course I had to find another one!
As we were sort of passing, we stopped at Milburn church – a lovely little church just outside the village. The cross slab in question is a fine one with another kind of cross and an emblem which, as it is agreed amongst people who know about these things, is shears and denotes a female burial.
But, oh dear – how to photograph?
This one is inside a small, dark porch and the only light did not work. Right by the door and panelling built round it. We moved an umbrella that was hanging on it, but moved nothing else. Neither did I edit anything out, as I think it shows how these things became, and still are, a part of the church fabric and life. Past and present intermingling.
