Post Holiday Blues
When life was less normal I often preferred the semi routine of the school/working week. Now it is more normal I have the luxury of indulging in post holiday blues on the first Monday back.
Though collecting this one from her holidays was clearly a welcome part. Especially as she went suitably nutty when she saw me and looked so incredibly well. And clean. They must shower them down pretty well on their final morning as she shows absolutely no sign of 10 days rolling around a field. She was on holiday with our neighbour’s dog so we had a sociable morning collecting them together from their drop off the other side of the river and walking back in the glorious sunshine.
The rest of the day I have largely busied myself with admin and finances and laundry and arranging for pest control to visit. Such has my attitude towards our annual visitors who migrate indoors as soon as the temperature drops changed that not only can I say their name (mice as opposed to “visitors”) I almost feel mean when all they want is a bit of warmth. But then I remind myself that is probably how the plague started. Oh, and I can’t cope with the screaming teenage boys - one climbed out of the radiator whilst they were in the den and they nearly tripped over themselves and down the stairs making their escape!
