Gift

Yesterday at the march a woman gave Ella this little light, and when she met Andrew her friend he gave her his which she saved for her little brother. Each light commemorated someone who had been killed in their stand for civil rights. This person was killed by the white South African police while on a peaceful demonstration. It was very difficult to answer Ella’s questions as she thought the police wouldn’t have done that. Luckily she’d had a positive encounter with one of our police officers.

Ella - “Have you caught any bad people today.”
Police officer - “3019”
Ella - “that must have been very tiring for you”:

Today she and I went swimming for 2 hours. She is getting more confident trying hard to overcome her fear in the pool. Then we made pancakes. She chatted non-stop, constantly asking questions which I love but it is tiring! I remember #1 daughter was like this. Ella seems to embody characteristics of all three of our daughters!

She’s home now. I’m catching up with Strictly, then I’ll hav3 an early night with my book. r C will catch up with the motor racing.
