Lights Out!

Dear Diary,

Not much sleep last night with Tropical Storm Philippe raging outside.  The power finally succumbed at 3 am but the generator is working fine and amazingly, the internet is still working.  A bit of an emergency post of the pine cones I gathered to use as fire starters this winter.  The pitch on them makes a good, hot short-lived flame that helps ignite the kindling and logs.  There will be a lot more to gather once this storm passes through and they dry up.

I have no idea how long the power will be out, 4 1/2 hours so far.  It is so reassuring to have the generator to keep things running in the interim.  There are branches down everywhere so tomorrow will be clean-up day for sure!
