Orange Drummer
Apparently this is also known as a Big W.
I hadn't expected to be blipping today, but when I put the card in realised I'd bent down and snapped this cicada on the path.
They're thick on the ground at the moment, and the noise is constant and shrill.
Cicadas are the most efficient and loudest sound-producing insects in existence.
When I was a child I wasn't very interested in them, considering them to be a peculiarly male thing.
The boys would have pockets full and swap them.
I was, however, fascinated by their names.
Names like Greengrocer, Yellow Monday, Floury Baker, Blue Moon, Cherry Nose and the one all those grubby boys were after, the elusive Black Prince.
