Windup car

I saw this beautiful car today while we were out and about. Obviously, German engineering at it's finest!

I have always wondered what makes these cars so special, and now I know!

BMW evidently stands for Bavarian Motors Windup :) I was able to find this answer because the owner left the winder key in the front bumper of the car :)
