Uneven
Although I was off-route, this looked as if it was going to be a fun descent back down into the Tweed Valley near Traquair. But it was dying bracken on steep muddy ground with a small hidden stream. Hence, when I got down to the road I went too fast to try to catch up with the average pace I was aiming for. Then, coming down from the Minch Moor, I went too fast again - 6km in 26:25 - so the final 10km on roads and trails beside the Tweed were grim, as my legs tightened up. Overall, 5:50 min/km was the pace I hoped for, but I'll have to be more disciplined when I run the 50km Tweed Valley Ultra in three weeks time, of which today's outing was the middle 30km.
