Whale
This morning we went to the tourist information centre and decided on an afternoon cruise on an old ferry ( converted to electric) with a local who does a (talking) cruise around the inlet. We decided on a whale watching and Montague Island cruise this evening. To get a feel for the place we drove north before lunch and saw dolphins and this whale from a lookout. Very exciting as I haven't seen one before, this one was 1-2 km off shore so with the aid of the telephoto and digital zoom caught the action you could only just see from land.
The cruise was great, 2 hours with a funny chap who had lots of knowledge and many jokes. When we got back we got a call from the cruise operator to say the other island cruise was cancelled due to high winds. Oh well, you can't win them all. I was looking forward to visiting the island 9k off shore too. Now we are in the van as its too windy outside. It is also too windy to ride, and it's a great place for biking.
The other pictures are 1. the house I want to buy, 2 an old boat with lovely natural bush settings and 3 the pelican which looks at home on the jetty. The bird is a sea eagle ( also a long way off).
