Bald Eagle and Loons at the Quabbin
Today we took a drive in the extensive park around the Quabbin Reservoir, On the way we saw this sub-adult bald eagle; they reach maturity with their characteristic white heads after five years; this one is three or four years old. Further along, at the Goodnough Dike, were three common loons, quite far out; they're in the extra, which combines two images. The trio echoes the three I blipped last August in Maine (accompanied by an extra with a wing flap :) They are now in non-breeding plumage.
