Cup chances

I nearly posted my best handheld compact camera shot of the moon, but this high noise low quality football shot wins the day. Because of THE MATCH.

Imagine this ... a short period of driving rain to kick off the match, a background noise of jet engines, the scent of jet fuel in the air, and then a cup match was underway. While the match went to 4-4, I had my concentration tested by the queue of planes landing at Heathrow every minute just across the road, and by the bright and beautiful nearly full moon.

A deflection gave the home team a match-leading goal just near the end, and as it seemed the hard work would end in vain, our lads pulled out an equaliser 8 seconds from time. This is the third cup match in a row going to extra time!

The boys upped their game and yet could not score. It all came to a head when a striker missed an open goal opportunity by hitting the crossbar in the second half of extra time. The opposing fans mocked him.

Moments later he scored with a header and followed it up with a goal from each foot. He now had a hat trick and the team captain added a fourth goal of his own to finish the match. 9-5.

Can a match ending in that scoreline be as dramatic as that?!
