'Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart'

Not long in from a wonderful celebration of thanksgiving for 150 years of Scripture Union. The venue was Charlotte Chapel in Edinburgh .... a wonderful space to accommodate the hundreds of people of all ages who gathered together to give thanks for the work of SU. Having been involved with SU for more than 50 years this was an opportunity for me to 'Give Thanks'

Scripture Union began on 2nd June 1867 in the home of Thomas Hughes in the London suburb of Islington. 15 young children were there to attend a children's meeting led by Josiah Spiers who wanted the children to know just how much God loved them.  From that first meeting the work of Scripture Union has spread to over 130 countries around the world.

It was so good to catch up with folk I hadn't seen for years .... by the time we were leaving I was almost hugged out!
