Peek
I'm on half-term duty with the kids for the rest of the week and the weekend. Today we combined a few errands in town with a visit to the National Science & Media Museum to catch up with Tim Peake's spacecraft (Soyuz TMA-19M descent module), and continuing the science theme, a visit to the the new nitrogen ice cream parlour as featured in Tuesday's blip.
As expected, the museum was packed to the half-term brim and beyond, but the spacecraft is parked in the entrance foyer so we got to have a good look straight away. Today's image sees us peeking through Peake's window to a control panel that looks pleasingly old school. As you can imagine, I spent the rest of the visit humming Major Tom - the man who fell to Earth indeed. It's only in Bradford until November 19th, thereafter touring Shildon (NRM), York (NRM), Manchester (MOSI), Edinburgh (NMS), Cardiff (NMW) & Belfast (NMNI) over the next couple of years.
The pleasant surprise at the ice cream parlour was that they had vegan options on the menu, the disappointment being that none were available. But 9yo & 13yo enjoyed theirs: Chocolate Cookie and Pineapple flavoured respectively.
We'd been planning to head over to York tomorrow as 9yo has put in a request for Jorvik, which none of us have ever been to. The online pre-booking had no spaces until Sunday though, we that's what we've plumped for. I'm sure something else will come up to occupy us tomorrow.
