A walk in the woods

The sun was threatening to come out this afternoon so I took myself off to the beech woods as the other end of the village.

They have re done the path since I last walked there which makes it not so muddy but because they do it by machine these days it does not have the character it had. Also , in places, they have left a mess by just bulldozing through this pretty wood and not making any attempt at landscaping. The bulldozed trees are just left piled up beside the path. Some of the wooded bridges have been replaced by culverts and these have already washed out leaving a mess of gravel strewn about.

Anyway apart from this rant I still enjoyed the woods and hope that it settles down again soon. The autumn colours were looking good and it was a lovely walk.
