The craft of Glass Blowing

L and I spent the afternoon at a craft fair in the Exhibition Centre in Glasgow.  Leather working, machine knitting, making lace, Sashiko embroidery, card making .... I'd seen them all before ..... the glass blowing was a new demonstration this year.

Setting up the brick oven and getting the temperature up to about 1000C must have taken some time. It was fascinating to watch the glass being heated, turned and shaped with those procedures being repeated many times as this beautiful vase began to take shape.
