Shoe Box Appeal

I walked through the church this morning after our short Wednesday morning service and thought how colourful the wrapping was on these shoe boxes. The poster says " Make someone happy this Christmas". I am sure these will.

The extra is best avoided by those of a squeamish disposition !  I was working this afternoon and was presented with a dead hen which seemed to have died suddenly so I thought I would have a look inside to see if I could find why. The close up shows a fairly nasty looking Ovarian tumour so the diagnosis was quite easy. ( Hens only have one ovary and domestic laying hens are the only non-human animals that fairly commonly develop spontaneous ovarian cancer.) Apologies if I have worried any of my hen owning blip friends but I PM quite a lot of hens and find most of them die from problems in the egg laying department - perhaps not surprising when you consider what an amazing process it is that can produce an egg every day.
