Serious searching

Great excitement this morning when Grandad went to fetch the big vehicle he had hired for the day – three layers of seats, so we could all go out for the day in one car, rather than taking two. Two girls sat right at the back and were delighted.

The eldest grandaughter has a love of otters and so we decided to head for the North East and Washington Wetland Centre. We watched Otters being fed, saw flamingos and lots of other birds, completed the Nauseating Nature Trail (excellent), had some lunch and walked (or ran) miles.

Then we headed to the coast and to Seaham, as they were fascinated by my collection of sea glass and wanted to look for some. So, even without the experts we had with us on a previous occasion, we still managed to be fairly successful. The girls were very pleased with their collections anyway. And it was a sunny, windless afternoon - perfect.

Fish and chips all round and then home, accompanied most of the way with riddles – you could have made a comedy programme from the responses. A lovely day, voted 10 out of 10 by everyone. Children are asleep and it won’t be long before the adults are too!
