Fin, Mylo and Belle
Well it's been a few months and I have no reason for not posting in a wee while other than being busy! Since retiring a few years back and moving to live the "good life" in rural Berwickshire I have never been so busy domestically. During the summer months our garden takes over what we do. We try to be as self sufficient as possible, I am Head Gardener of the veggies and H is Head Gardener of the meadow/wildlife garden. If we didn't keep on top of things it would certainly get out of hand. Last month the meadow was all cut back with several large haystacks now bordering our garden. The shrubs and flowers planted within the meadow have done well and now 3 years on since it was all planned and planted we are delighted with our efforts. The veg garden has been increased with successful and continuing growing in this mild weather. Our apple trees did well and now there is cider on the go alongside some jars of Blackcurrant gin!
On a sad note we had to say goodbye to our honey bees in July. H has become very allergic to bee stings and we cannot take the risk. They have gone to a fellow Borders Beekeeper with a promise to gift us a few jars of honey.
The dogs are well , the new pup Fin is now 12 months old and Mylo 12 years old. Mylo has slowed down a lot and is troubled with some arthritis in his lower back. Fin is a nippy wee soul with a huge heart and bag loads of character. A true collie and one that needs to learn to work, my task next year?
I will try to get back into the way of regular Bliplife however we are off on our travels again very soon......so exciting, Tanzania! Watch out for blips of slightly larger animals coming soon.
