Things I miss
Tomorrow we set off to visit friends on Noirmoutier - 10 hours drive so early to bed tonight. It is a wrench leaving my beloved village in the Pyrenees but I comfort myself that it will not be for too long and that a visit to Noirmoutier and then to the wild west coast of Brittany will help to sugar the pill! Today's photo is an indication of what I will miss, the food (this fig tree overhanging a street just up the road has kept us in figs for a month), the sunshine and the quality of the light, the pretty village with its stone buildings and narrow streets and of course the mountains. I could wax lyrical about other aspects of French life that are not evident in the photo, the slower and saner pace of life, the friendliness of our neighbours and village community and so on. I had better leave it at that, though, and put aside my rose tinted spectacles.
