A Cow Playing The Banjo

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

I really enjoyed taking with you (Princess) last night. It is always a delight to hear your voice, even if you then used said voice to discuss "freedom pants", "1970's fanny hair" and "old tramp urine"*.

But really, I loved every minute and stayed awake giggling to myself long after we had hung up. And it was a LONG chat. I could tell because Punky started doing his dinner-prancing routine at about 11, which is when I said I should hang up. The poor little guy was practically BREAKDANCING by the time I could finally bring myself to say goodbye.

I am a bad kitty owner! BAD!

But the Princess brought up an interesting point during her conversation. She had asked her daughters to name the song that plays in their head when trying to block out work or other annoyances. It reminded me of something Fat Pete said once. His method of getting through team meetings was to imagine a cow playing the banjo.

Seriously. Try it. A cow doing the theme from "Deliverance" can make even the most boring-@rsed sh1te go right away.

Stop that. I'm not THAT boring..

But the Princess's question made me wonder what my song was. And do I even HAVE just one? To be honest, I think I wear an invisible iPod all of the time. So today I tried to actualy take NOTE of the the random songs playing in my head during a dull day reading about the 2014 Food Safety Act. They were:

Breakout - Swing Out Sister (this is because I was thinking about the Princess and her question. So it doesn't count).
Black Betty - Ram Jam (this is Fat Pete's fault. He knows why).
The Mary Tyler Moore Theme Song (for obvious reasons).
Total Eclipse of the Heart - Bonnie Tyler (I think there's a Mary Tyler Moore connection there somewhere).
Hold The Line - Toto (this was just on "Mindhunter" which is my new favourite  show).

Eagle - Abba (this one segues nicely with Steve Miller but it's not like Abba are ever very far from my imaginary iPod playlist).

Keep On Loving You - REO Speedwagon (this was playing in a shop at lunchtime but I was karaoke-ing it all my way back to the office).
I'm All Out of Love - Air Supply (if I had a Power Ballad playlist on my iPod - and I'm not admitting that I DO - then this would definitely follow REO Speedwagon).

I think I missed a few that flashed though my head as I read all about food preparation and handling. But that is all right. You now have some idea what it is like to be inside my head. And apologies if that has traumatised anyone.

In other news, today's picture is of "Fritz" the dog. He and his master are immortalised at the foot of Plimmer Steps in central Wellington. There are more pictures in the extras for those of a curious bent. But what's that song I hear playing in my head...?
