Newmarket Races

We had such a fabulous day at the races today. Starting with a tasty meal we headed off to look at the horses for the first race.

I decided that as my neighbour is a jockey who was riding number 5 in the fifth race, then I would use this 'scientific' method to place my bets on the fifth horse in each race. Crazy idea but probably as much chance as any other horse. Of course it didn't work and I didn't win any but it was fun cheering them on anyway.

The best bit of the day involved our friend Cathy and her bet on a beautiful bay horse No 7. It was the only race of the day in which she placed a bet, although a regular race goer. The horse decided to stop on its way down the course requiring the jockey to get off and offer it an apple or something! Two vehicles went down to shooooo it down the course. It held the race up, but did eventually get in the stalls. It even managed to come out when the race started and then it stopped ... yes, it stopped and would not go. Well we absolutely fell about laughing. Kathy lost her £2 bet but it was really funny.
