Miles of Smiles...
And it's Monday again and there seems to be so much happening. My to do list is getting depressingly long.
Jennifer, Becca and baby Max coming for lunch tomorrow. Probably the highlight of the week. Lola will be very excited by that.
We're having a staff meeting on Wednesday with the Speech Therapist, the dietician and Rosie the team's line manager popping in. They are coming to do some training with Alan's team. The SLT will discuss communication and the dietician will go over procedures for his feeding tube. Rosie will go over Alan's support plan, which needs updating, and I have some work to do for that.
On Thursday Shona the puppy trainer is back from holiday so hopefully she will pop in. Lots of questions for her. Friday is a quieter day then on Saturday we are off to Carlisle to collect the new car. Sunday my friend Marion (and Alan's first support worker at primary school) is coming for lunch. Really looking forward to catching up with her.
And then it will be Monday again! The weeks are just flying by!
But on a more light hearted note, I am a very happy mum today (both human and doggy mum :-) For the second night in a row Alan has eaten his dinner. This is fantastic as it has been months since he's had solid food for dinner, choosing to have his tummy milk instead. It's great to see him enjoying his potatoes again.
He is also over the moon that his bedroom has been redecorated and he can get his posters back on the walls. He has missed the pretty girls! Now that his bedroom has been put back together again, we are a step closer to getting his new sitting room ready for use.
With Lola, I am happy with her as (and I really hope I am not jinxing it by saying anything) I really think she is starting to give us clear signals when she wants to go outside and do her business. She's been exhibiting a number of behaviours such as barking, going to the kitchen door, sitting in front of us, getting restless and when whisked outside, has responded appropriately.
As a result she got a new toy today (see extra) and she loves it. She's been full of smiles :-) And this morning she jumped onto my knee, put her head on my shoulder and snuggled in for a sleep. It was so lovely.
We snuggled down on the chair together, her warm little tummy and her puppy smell and her soft paws and floppy ears all there for me to enjoy. She is the best stress reliever I have ever known :-)
