Eye decline

My sight is getting worse. It took so long to get to the point where I (admitted that I) needed glasses and, indeed, for a while, I barely used them once I had them. Of late, though, particularly when I'm using my laptop, I can't do without them.

I find that I don't use them when taking a photo - at least when using a non-phone camera - but then I need them to check whether the results are in focus.

The problem I have is in switching between close mode - needing glasses - and my otherwise 20/20 vision. I'm thinking about whatever the glasses are called with the split lenses, or maybe those fancy contact lenses with the spirals, or maybe even the laser surgery. I don'k know.... I miss having perfect vision. Maybe I should be more grateful for the time I had it!

Actually, I am really impressed by what I've heard of the contact lenses, how your brain can determine which of the two sets (due to the spirals) of incoming signals it wants to use, depending on distance and focus. Don't get me wrong, I am a *firm* believer in evolution but, as with piano playing, isn't amazing what we can do for which there's no obvious evolutionary path?
