The Final Stage
We have been waiting for this to happen. Finally the Waratahs are at the stage of being very attractive to the Honey Eaters. This New Holland Honey Eater spent time on every flower this morning and very delicately worked his way around the flowers.
This is the fourth week that I have posted a progress image of the six Waratah blooms that are right outside our living room window. I have posted the progress image as an extra because I couldn't go past the one of the Honey Eater sitting proudly on top of the Waratah. The other extra I have posted shows a huge Currawong perched on top of the Waratahs that are covered with a very fine netting. The big guys have absolutely no respect for the majestic flowers and absolutely "Monster" them and tear them to pieces. We have a group of photographers coming to Wombat Hollow next Saturday and we're hoping the netting strategy will ensure that the Waratahs are still looking half decent in a few days time.
The image I've posted tonight was taken on Shutter Speed mode. I don't often use that but after our challenge with our photo group last week and with Beckett's encouragement, I've decided to be a bit more adventurous. (I hope Beckett checks out the shutter speed);)))
In a couple of weeks the flowers will be well past their majestic best so I just have to take advantage of them as much as possible. I have to confess I have a few hundred images to sort through after today's visit from the Honey Eaters :-)
I'm not going to mention the rugby result because it pays to be humble, particularly when you know it's been a few years between wins!!
