'Diderman'

Whenever prompted to upload photos of myself I find that I have scant few to choose from. As someone who takes 95% of the photos in my household they almost always consist of; the scenery, my girlfriend, my son, my girlfriend and my son together (perhaps composed against the background of some fine scenery).

In common with the less narcissistic amongst us, I rarely take photos of myself or insist on others taking those of me; the few examples I do find are out of date, hark back to a younger and more carefree time for me where I simply look different from how I do now (whether that be due to the glint in my eye or a better head of hair) or simply because I just don't think they represented a truly definitive rendition of who I (think I ) am. That's possibly a philosophical gambit for another time, but for now, I need a photo of myself, for what I think might make a good introduction to blipfoto.com.

The one you see now is out of focus, not entirely flattering and certainly not one I might have offered a few years ago, but that was before I had a son: for he took this. I'm not proclaiming that this is some sort of genius move by a two and a half year old, merely that he managed to capture me laughing as he pointed the camera at me and said "Diderman"

Now, some explanation is probably needed: 'Diderman' is my sons way of saying 'Spiderman' which he had seen a few days previous and was now completely and utterly obsessed with. 'Diderman' he'd say for two days afterwards with some commited zeal, at nothing in particular or for any reason at all it seemed to me. He hadn't said it at all this particular day when he suddenly picked up my camera lying on the table, pointed it at me, clicked and said 'Diderman' Well, I would like to think he was thinking of Peter Parker, the intrepid photographer and indeed Spiderman himself, who was seen often with his SLR in the movie in question, shooting away. It would have been rather churlish of me to point out that Peter Parker, is, well, Peter Parker and not Spiderman at that point but that's up for discussion.

Of course, it could have been mere coincidence: he's just saying 'Diderman' completely un-associated with what he's doing, regardless, what you see here is my delighted reaction to what I think is him, pretending to be Peter Parker/Spiderman and actually taking my photo. My happiness is there to see, so what better a photo to begin with than that, captured by 'Diderman'
