A Break in the Weather

It's genuinely October weather now, as opposed to last weekend's return to summer, which must have got the natural world thoroughly confused. It's grey, wet, windy, cool, kind of rubbish really - except that it feels right in my bones. I like the seasons. I like to feel the gradual onset of winter, trying to remember to take gloves with me, putting on an extra layer, sticking on a hat. It feels comfortable. 

It felt even better when I headed out in the rain today and it almost immediately stopped, the sun coming out and then retreating just as I returned home, which was a cue for it to start raining again. That offered a feeling of being in tune with the universe, something I've missed recently.
