Do you recognise me!

I know it might sound silly, but I've no idea what this piece of equipment is! I was sorting out my photography gear today and came across this item which I do not recognise. I must have ordered it from Amazon years ago!  It has a ball head at one end where you attached the camera, but what the other end attaches to I've no idea.  How silly is that:)  Any ideas would be welcome?  I've taken it from a few different angles to provide some clues.  Hope it fits the Silly Saturday challenge  -  thank you admirer for your continuing work as host  -  very much appreciated.
