Downtown Cairo

First day of the weekend here. Despite turning the lights off early last night (before 10pm!), Bb was still asleep when the alarm went off at 8am this morning. I took an executive decision to turn off the alarm and let him sleep. We'd planned to both work for a couple of hours in the morning and then head out of Cairo and have an overnight stay away, but this didn't happen. As it gets dark around 5.30, we'd have had to be away by around mid-day to make it worthwhile as the place we had in mind was a couple of hours away. Instead, we both did a few hours work later in the day and then headed downtown for a wander and change of scene. This place here is famous for its ice-cream, cakes and chocolates. The queue here is for ice-cream! We skipped that, but did buy a few wrapped chocolates - no idea what they are yet! Then dinner in Estoril, opposite Cafe Riche. Undercovercairo will recognise those places and she was mentioned tonight.
