Homes of Retirement
backblip
Visit to the Weald & Downland open air museum today - one of those collections of old buildings saved from various sites around the area. From somewhere E coined the phrase of a "retirement home for old buildings" - it's now stuck as a phrase; soon to be repeated...
Walked a short section of the South Downs way this morning. discovered quite how slippery chalk paths can be*. As a result the camera, it's case and I are covered in a certain quantity of South Down - thankful that the camera seems to have survived the fall.
At the museum I was intrigued to learn that the original colour of the timbers of 'black & white' buildings was often a 'Stop Rust' red, which looks rather different.

As we passed by the village of Goodwood - E thought horse racing, I thought motor; each of us having mentally excised the other circuit.

* I'd have thought that a material renowned for it's ability to absorb water would have absorbed the fairly small amount of rain over the last few days - apparently not.
