Fading into darkness

Nearing the end.........

This is, I think, one of the most beautiful buildings in the UK. "The Wedding Cake", "The Auld Hoose", "The Big Hoose", "Head Office", "The Mound" - it had many names.

I am the biggest embracer of change there is, but I must say it has been touching to see many people these past few days remember fondly their time working here. For many, it has been their lives, with many happy memories.

But, times move on, and this downturn was one which The Old Lady of The Mound could not withstand. The new owners will take good care of this place, of that I am sure, as they themselves are extremely respectable bankers and know what it's all about. The world evolves, so does business, bring on the future. It may be dark now, but those are just the clouds - which will always move on and let the sun shine on Scotland, on its financial power, its embracing of the global village, and on Victory herself atop the great green dome.

At least for tonight, let's remember what is embodied in this wonderful building.
