Day of the Triffids

Not today, but soon, the day of this triffid must come!
I remember planting this Cordyline when it was about 12 inches tall, in about 2010. The label said it was hardy in warm areas, which Edinburgh is not, but I thought I'd give it a go. It seems to have liked it here though because it is now over 10 feet tall.
It's a bit close to the house though so I fear it must go. We haven't yet decided whether to take it out completely or to try cutting it back to about 6 inches and letting it try again, which is tempting.
It goes with some regret as it is very spectacular and even flowered and fruited this year.
The red leaves in the front actually come from a different variety bought at the same time (cheap in Homebase's bargain corner) which has also thrived, it however has stayed a much more sensible size.
The extra gives a clearer picture of size and proximity in a raised bed.
