New flashes

I mentioned in yesterdays blip that these had arrived during the week last week.

Shot with my phone (and totally out of focus due to shake) and highlights why I prefer to use something a bit more substantial than my phone for pictures ;?)

I'm not a camera snob though, hence most of my pictures being shot with the old 400D rather than something "better".

Anyways, YN560 II fully manual flash. Decent feel to the build quality, zoomable head, power adjustable in third of a stop from full down to 1/128 power. Did a little testing with them and a meter. Results can be emailed out if anyone wants me to send them, but basically, these things give a good blast of light and a meter reading of f32 and 2/3 at 1 meter, ISO 100, unmodified, head zoomed to 105mm and full power set. That's some serious amount of light and probably enough to overpower the sun if shooting headshots with a direct light (which would likely look pretty horrible, but choices can be made)
