Milkweed bugs....
....for TinyTuesday. Although adult milkweed bugs can grow up to an inch long, these young ones vary in size from about 1/3 to 1/2 inch long. They aren't harmful, in general, as they only eat the seeds of the milkweed plants, which can help control the milkweed from overgrowing an area.
I'm sorry to do another milkweed picture today, but we were at the hospital for 5 hours because Toms' blood counts dropped again & he had to be transfused. By the time we left the hospital, got something to eat and stopped at the pharmacy, it was almost 6:00 and the sun was dropping fast. I knew there were lots of milkweed bugs around the area in the park where I was yesterday, so we made a fast trip there on the way home, and I literally ran from pod to pod, looking for some of the bugs and hoping the light would last long enough. As it turns out, the light was better because the sun was below the tree level.
Mae woke up sick this morning, so the ER doctor was right in thinking it was the beginning of a respiratory infection. Today she's coughing, sneezing, and has a fever of 102 degrees.....all really bad for Tom, who's immune system is really weak and who's now been exposed to her germs. We've decided he'll spend most of his time in the basement rec room and will wear a mask when he comes upstairs. I've been regularly wiping everything down with chlorox wipes, so I'm just doing it more often now. It's always something.......... :))
Thanks wrperry/Wendy for hosting TT for October!
