Pious or Pagan?

Visited a quite stunning exhibition today in Hame Castle. Entitled "The Pious and the Pagans", it juxtaposed modern pieces sculpted in wood with old sculpted church pieces from before the reformation. The former, of which this is an example, were totally outshone by pieces carved in the 14th and 15th centuries which have to be seen to be believed.
