Magpie Family
For about a week now I have been hearing the baby cheaping sounds of little magpies, coming from a tree in next door's yard.
After the adult magpies have collected a mouth-full of food from my back garden, they have been flying up to one place in the tree where the nest was, but it was too well hidden to get a photo.
This morning, however, I could hear the cheaping coming from another tree, closer to my house, and there I found the babies!
There seems to be two of them and I have been hearing them cheap, cheaping away all day from inside the house!
And all day, I've been running in and out of the house, taking various photos of the maggies, and this afternoon I managed to get a shot of one of the babies, with the parents standing on either side of him or her, so that is my blip for today.
At one stage today, Miss Tibbs came along and rubbed up against my legs as I was taking photos, when suddenly the adult maggie flew down and swooped at her! It startled me, as they are usually tolerant of my cat. Seems that when the baby birds are about, they are not so trusting of Miss Tibbs!
I suppose they are just like all parents, being very protective of their young. :)
