There is a light that never goes out
The title of my favourite ever Smiths' song.
But is it still okay to like the Smiths now that Mozza is putting all of his energy into demonstrating that he is neither the front end or the rear end of an ass (*part of my favourite joke of all time that nobody else finds funny).
I mean the clues were always there, from the particularly insufferable smugness he brought to his vegetarianism, to the distinct odour of racism off some of the lyrics from his solo work. But his early songs were so good and I loved them, so I didn't look too hard.
But now he seems to be openly supporting UKIP, putting him among their tiny group of celebrity fans along with that rubbish radio one DJ who announced that he wasn't actually dead like you thought by singing that excruciating calypso. No. Just no!!!
I always new Johnny Marr was the real talent in the band.
