Maradona Mad
Couldn't be Argentina without tribute to their great icon Diego Maradona. One day the famous M may morph to Messi.
This was our fist day in Buenos Aires. And it was sure entertaining! After the worst flight of my entire life on the awful airline that is LAN. We arrived at the airport and were greeted by a 2 hour line just to get to baggage claim. Once we finally got through the line I felt about 10 years older, and I thought it can only get better from here... How wrong I was!
We arrived at the booked accommodation and we were invited into a very small apartment whilst we waited for the person to book us in. He finally arrived and I thought good now we can go to our apartment, turned out that we were already in our apartment. If only we got a picture of my face. This place was vile! There was a reason I hadn't sat down for the entire time we were there.
I can't put into words how much of cesspit this was. I wasn't going to stay here 10 more minutes let alone 10 days! There was so much wrong with it, the only positive I could find was that it was inside and not some shanty on the side of street, however it may as well have been.
We swiftly exited the location with all luggage on hand and headed to an internet cafe. We had to settle for coffee of chocolate although what we all really wanted was a shower! The fun continued. We tracked down an affordable apartment in the perfect location in BA for us. So once we had re-charged and pulled ourselves together after chronic laughter we headed to the area.
Turns out that the people that we were communicating with about the apartment were actually people from Palermo, Italy after we briefly booked a flat there, luckily without paying. So after trying to speak Spanish and English to Italians and getting directions to a place in Italy we were stranded at another internet cafe very close to the apartment we were trying to book but couldn't!
After trying and failing to get in touch with the owners of the flat we gave up and headed to a hotel. It was clean, warm and comfy! What a day it was.
Now we are in the apartment that we tried to get into after staying in the hotel for a night or two. All settled now and at least we have a great story to tell and some classic comedy moments to look back on in and around the stress.
This picture was taken when we went out for Cocktails and Empanadas. Hope I retold the tale well :) Wow that was tiring haha
